As a participant in the Sir John Talbot’s School Whitchurch 10K I agree to abide by the current law and rules of competition of UK Athletics. I declare that I will be over the age of 15 on the date of the race. I declare that I understand the nature and distance of the event, the physical preparation required and that I am fit to participate and do so at my own risk. I understand that the organisers will not be held responsible for any loss, injury or damage that may occur because of my participation. I am aware and assume all risks associated with participating in this event, including but not limited to falls, contact with other participants, negotiating the course, effects of weather, traffic and condition of the road. I hereby waive, release and forever discharge the event organisers, Sir John Talbot’s School, sponsors, promoters, host venue, representatives and all other persons associated with the event for all my liabilities, claims, actions or damages that I may have against them out of or in any way connected with my participation in this event.
The Sir John Talbot’s School Whitchurch 10K Extreme Inclement Weather Policy
In the interest of safety, the Race Director and event officials, in consultation with the emergency services, reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to extreme inclement weather. In the first instance with adverse weather, the Race Director will delay the start by 15 mins and reassess the situation. If the race has not started after 1 hour of the scheduled start time due to adverse weather, the Race Director will discuss postponing and/or cancelling the event.
Anti Doping
An entrant shall be deemed to have made themselves familiar with, and agreed to be bound by the UKA Anti-Doping rules and to submit to the authority of the UK Anti-Doping in the application and enforcement of the Anti-Doping rules.
The UKA Anti-Doping rules apply to entrants participating in the sport of athletics for 12 months from the date of this event (2nd April 2023) whether or not the licence holder is a citizen of or resident in the UK
The Sir John Talbot’s School Whitchurch 10K Force Majeure Policy
All decisions and rulings by the Race Director shall be the final in respect of the safety, running and organisation of the event, the rules of the event and finish times and positions. The participant accepts that circumstances concerning the event may change from time to time for reasons beyond the reasonable control of the organiser and these may lead to the cancellation or change of the event, venue(s), route(s) or other such changes. The participant agrees to abide by such change(s) and acknowledges that any decision is entirely at the absolute discretion of the Race Director.
Race cancellation – Force Majeure: For the purposes of these terms and conditions, a “Force Majeure Event” means an event beyond the reasonable control of the Race Director, including but not limited to: strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving the workforce of the organiser), failure of a utility service or transport network, act of God, war, riot, civil commotion, malicious damage, compliance with any law or governmental order, rule, regulation, direction or action by a government or public authority, accident, breakdown of plant or machinery, fire, inclement weather, flood, storm or default of the organiser or subcontractors. If, because of a Force Majeure Event, the organiser deems in its sole discretion that it is necessary to cancel, postpone or change the route and/or length of the event, the organiser shall be entitled to cancel, postpone or change the event. If the event is cancelled or postponed in accordance with condition, the organiser will make reasonable endeavours to rearrange the event. If the event is cancelled, postponed or amended in accordance with condition or if the organiser breaches any of its obligations under these conditions because of a Force Majeure Event, the organiser shall not be liable to participants for any losses incurred as a result (including because of its negligence) except in respect of losses that cannot be excluded by law.
The Sir John Talbot’s School Whitchurch 10K STOP Policy
In the interest of safety, the Race Director and event officials, in consultation with the emergency services, reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to extreme inclement weather or a major incident on or near the event route. In these circumstances, no refunds will be issued. In the event of any major occurrences along the route, the Race Director and the emergency services reserve the right to alter/shorten the route, but still provide a race if possible. In these circumstances, no refunds will be issued. The Race Director and the emergency services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given. If the Race Director or emergency services need to STOP the event due to a major incident, we will communicate via the event control team and the 2-way radios to inform marshals who will then inform the participants. Marshals and Andy Hall (PA) will use the wording, “Due to circumstances beyond the events control, the race has been terminated with immediate effect. Please stay nearby so I can relay further information when it is received.”
